Binghamton Zoo Lemur Fund
Lucy and Zeus need your help!
Lucy and Zeus are the Zoo’s resident
Black and White Ruffed Lemurs. The Zoo has recently
been awarded a $20,000.00 grant from the George A. and
Margaret Mee Foundation towards the replacement of their
current exhibit which is out of date, in disrepair and
requires complete reconstruction. Their new “home” would
include a naturalistic habitat (we have never seen a
concrete floor in the jungle have you?), new climbing
features, proper water, heating and winter accommodations.
The Zoo reached several important goals
this year, one of which was seeking grants for rebuilding
the lower Zoo, which is where Lucy and Zeus currently
reside. Another was reaching our membership goal of 1,000
memberships. Reaching that goal tells us that the community
is supporting us.
We would like to challenge the members of
this society to match the donation made by the George A. and
Margaret Mee Foundation. If every household that has a
membership to the Zoo donates $20.00, we will have our
$20,000.00 match. Of course, a larger donation would help us
raise money more quickly which will help us start rebuilding
this exhibit sooner. We have heard your ideas and concerns
and we are working on revitalizing the Zoo but we need your
help.
